JOB TITLE: Data Entry for Medical Notes

REPORTS TO: OPERATIONS MANAGER

HOURS: 30 hours per week/full time – We are flexible how these hours are worked across the week. The only stipulation is that one of your core working days is a Friday.

Job summary:

The main responsibilities of the post-holder will be to work with and learn from the lead medical processor. To read patients letters and records.
Filter out the important information and enter this key information accurately onto the clinical computer system (SystmOne).

We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, has a keen eye for detail and has a can-do attitude.

Main duties/key tasks:

Reading and sorting patient letters and records.

Reviewing patient letters and records, extracting the relevant information and accurately recording this information via read codes onto the patient’s electronic records.

Prior data entry experience is advantageous

Medical knowledge is advantageous

SystmOne knowledge is advantageous

Health & safety:

The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others’ health, safety and security as defined in the practice Health & Safety Policy, the practice Health & Safety manual, and the practice Infection Control policy and published procedures. This will include:

  • Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines.
  • Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks.
  • Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills.
  • Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way free from hazards.
  • Actively reporting health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised.
  • Keeping own work areas and general / patient areas general clean, assisting in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness consistent with the scope of the job holder’s role.
  • Undertaking periodic infection control training (minimum annually)
  • Reporting potential risks identified.
  • Demonstrate due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
