Our Data and Analytics team is growing and we’re looking for an Entry Level Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team. We are looking for someone who has a passion for data and the desire to utilise and develop their existing knowledge and experience with data infrastructure, and contribute towards the end to end data engineering processes.
We are looking for someone who wishes to gain experience in supporting the design and implementation of robust data pipelines and structures, gaining experience in SQL, Python, cloud technologies and ETL processes.
What you will do
Part of the team responsible for the development and maintenance of a data warehouse and data pipelines that enables the provision of data from various sources, supporting Analysts and Data Scientists in surfacing data to support the business strategy.
Contribute to the design, development, testing and performance in production of the data warehouse, pipelines and BI systems. Digest business requirements and converting these into technical solutions, building end to end data pipelines in Python and SQL
Convert algorithms, models and features created by data scientists, analysts and designers from prototypes/designs into productionised solutions. Apply and champion data best practice standards and principles. Supporting the build and maintenance data artefacts - data models, data dictionaries and business glossaries
Skills we are looking for:
- Experience of using databases, ideally SQL (any variant)
- Programming experience, ideally, but not limited to, Python
- General knowledge of computer science and Information Technology
- Nice to have - experience of Git
- Nice to have - any experience of cloud computing (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Nice to have - any experience with Big Data technology (Hadoop)
- Nice to have - any background in statistics or maths
