As a member of our Software Engineering Group you are expected to hit the ground running on day one. You will dive head-first into creating innovative solutions that advance businesses and careers. You’ll join an inspiring and curious team of technologists dedicated to improving the design, analytics, development, coding, testing and application programming that goes into creating quality software applications. You’ll be tasked with keeping the team and other key stakeholders up to speed on the progress of what’s being developed. You are expected to come in with an understanding of the importance of end-to-end software development-such as Agile frameworks-is key.
Data Engineer
Location: Mississauga, Canada (Remote)

Skillsets:
Data lake / ADLS Gen 2
Databricks
Experience designing, building, deploying, testing, maintaining, monitoring, and owning scalable, resilient and distributed data pipelines
High Proficiency in at least two of Scala, Python, Spark applied to large scale data sets
Expertise with big data technologies (Spark, Data Lake, Delta Lake, Hive)
Knowledge of batch and streaming data processing techniques
Understanding of the Data Lifecycle Management process to collect, access, use, store, transfer, delete data.
Expert level knowledge of using SQL to write complex, highly-optimized queries across large volumes of data
Hands-on object-oriented programming experience using Scala, Python, R, or Java
At Effectual, Data engineers are responsible for designing, building, and maintaining datasets that can be leveraged in data projects
Obsession for service observability, instrumentation, monitoring and alertin
Knowledge or experience in architectural best practices in building data lakes
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 40 per week
Pay: $77,953.76-$146,096.50 per year

Experience:
- Data Engineer: 5 years (preferred)
- Data lake / ADLS Gen 2 Databricks: 4 years (preferred)
- Scala, Python, Spark applied to large scale data sets: 4 years (preferred)
- Spark, Data Lake, Delta Lake, Hive: 4 years (preferred)
