Job Role: Data Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our dynamic data team. As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure necessary for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from various sources into our data warehouse. You will collaborate with analysts, and software engineers to ensure that our data pipeline is efficient, reliable, and scalable. The ideal candidate has an interest in data engineering, ETL processes, and a passion for working with large and complex datasets.
Responsibilities:
· Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable ETL pipelines to efficiently extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources into the data warehouse.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and implement data solutions that meet business needs.
· Optimize and fine-tune ETL processes for performance, reliability, and data quality.
· Ensure the security, integrity, and privacy of sensitive data throughout the ETL process.
· Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, identifying and resolving issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
· Implement data validation and quality checks to guarantee accuracy and consistency of data.
· Research and evaluate new tools and technologies to enhance the data engineering process and improve efficiency.
· Work with cloud-based services (such as AWS, Azure, GCP) to deploy and manage data infrastructure components.
· Document processes, data flows, and technical specifications for future reference.
· Explore the use of Machine Learning models across our data warehouses for actionable business insights.
Qualifications and requirements
· Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is a plus but not essential or expected.
· Proven experience as a Data Engineer, with a strong understanding of ETL principles and best practices.
· Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, with experience in data manipulation and transformation.
· Familiarity with data modeling concepts and data warehousing principles.
· Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DocumentDB).
· Working knowledge of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS Glue, AWS S3, Hadoop, EMR & ElasticSearch).
· Ability to write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
· Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development practices.
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data pipeline issues.
· Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards is a plus.
· Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Professional Data Engineer) are a plus.
