To enable CDE to have the right information at the right time to support making the right decisions. CDE have built up a landscape of Business Intelligence within CDE’s Applications. This includes PowerBI, ERP reporting tools and others. The purpose of this role is to build and maintain data systems and construct datasets that are easy to analyse and support CDE’s requirements. It will implement methods to improve data reliability and quality. It will understand CDE business goals and develop and test architectures that enable data extraction and transformation to assist the business in meeting its goals.

This role will be filled by an experienced data engineer who can use various methods to transform raw data into useful data systems. Overall, you’ll strive for efficiency by aligning data systems with business goals.

This Role will be responsible for the infrastructure of the Business Intelligence landscape, facilitating the CDE Classification policy to support the business ensuring end to end data analyse can be performed. Working with and supporting external contractors where required. The candidate will be required to provide technical support with regards to the data landscape to the project team. They will need to mentor and assist the support staff and other Business System Team Members to ensure issues presented from the business are actioned to a high standard. The candidate will be an important member of the business systems change management team.

About The Role

Responsibilities:

• Analyse CDE’s raw data, develop and maintain datasets and improve data quality and efficiency.
• Lead PowerBI developments and provide data processing expertise including data curation, data modelling, semantics, best practise, and syntax of data attributes as well as coding structures and coding optimisation.
• Lead activities and provide guidance within the area of analytics, such as data standards, policies and strategies.
• Design and implementation of ETL models to enhance business processes and automation of reporting.
• Design and development of data models with date time dimensions and custom hierarchies to enable autonomous reporting and ability to slice and dice data by different date attributes.
• Provide oversight of the technical developments and data driven solution from IoT devices
• Proven ability to gather, model and present complex data in a comprehensible manner to all levels of an organisation while working with business stakeholders to preserve data integrity and address any issues that may arise.
• Support existing PowerBI landscape and well as working on new developments including requirement gathering and working closely with business stakeholders.
• Working closely with the Business Systems Program Manager to perform the technical requirements of the Business Systems Roadmap projects.
• Support the business systems team members to deliver data projects and users support to a high standard.
• Demonstrate technical leadership with-in the business systems to ensure CDE are using best practices.
• Providing and implementing technical requirements for Data requirements within CDE’s ERP including Data Migration, Permission sets, Custom Objects, Reports, Lobbies, Profiles, Crystal report writing, Business Analytics Reports.
• Working closely with external contractors, other technical team members and the project team to ensure requirements are met.
• Working closely with external Database support team to ensure upgrades and maintenance are carried out and up to date.
• Will be a member of the change management team and liaise/prioritise future development of the systems.
• Providing 2nd and 3rd line support to the Data systems and supporting technologies
• Provide training, mentoring and documentation to team members and across CDE.
• Occasionally providing Out of Hours support when required

Required Criteria

• 2.1 or above computing related degree or 2+ years of relevant experience
• 3+ years experience using PowerBi
• Competent in writing excel functions and formulas at an advance level

Desired Criteria

• Previous experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
• Experience with large complex datasets or database experience
• Ability to interpret data
