We are currently recruiting for a Data Engineer to join our new Data team that shares our core values; respect for people, hard work and enterprise, excellence in reputation and making the world a safer place for everyone.
About the Role:
The Data Engineer will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the data engineering strategy, which will build and maintain the data infrastructure for the Data & Analytics platform, ensuring we have reliable and scalable systems to support our business needs.
Key responsibilities include:
Implementing data pipelines that enable efficient and reliable data ingestion from various sources
Ensuring data quality by implementing robust validation techniques and monitoring systems that identify anomalies or errors in data
Implementing data architecture strategies to support business needs while ensuring scalability and maintainability
Working with cross-functional teams to identify requirements for new systems, tools, or processes that support business growth
Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization to ensure effective communication and collaboration on projects related to data engineering
Developing security protocols that ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR)
Staying up to date with emerging trends in data engineering technologies, evaluating new technologies/ software solutions as necessary to improve efficiency or scale our data engineering capability
About you
The ideal Data Engineer will be/have:
Specialist Data Engineering experience with previous experience in a data role supporting the drive for insight for a mid to large business (£200m+)
Degree in a mathematical, scientific, or computer science discipline preferred or equivalent experience
Experience building data engineering pipelines (ideally using Microsoft Azure tools & BW4HANA), with skills in Python, Apache Spark, SQL and Data Lake-houses
Experience working with domain structures, user authentication, and digital signatures
Expert knowledge of data management methodologies, techniques, tools and best practices including technical qualification within Data Management/ control (DMBOK/ DAMA framework)
Knowledge of data architecture, project/change management principles and delivery frameworks and methodologies and the ability to strongly influence and collaborate with these roles
Advanced Excel Skills and operational knowledge of PIM/MDM systems (e.g. Stibo/ Riversand) and analytical software (e.g. Alteryx, Power BI, SAC)
Ability to communicate technical concepts in plain language
