Job description
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Data Collection and Processing Assistant to provide data collection and entry support for the Oxford Trauma group, based at the Kadoorie Centre, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
You will be a critical member of a team working on high profile clinical trials. You will learn how good quality trial data is captured and processed for world class research publications and conclusions that directly affect treatment given to NHS patients. Working within a supportive team who value training and personal development, this role will prepare you for more senior clinical trial roles or roles in other administrative positions.
As a Data Collection and Processing Assistant your primary responsibilities will be to provide assistance with data entry for trials and research projects, perform follow-up data collection where needed and organise research data from various sources. Other duties will include assisting the trial management team with missing data/quality checks, supporting the activities of the trial management team in trial-related administrative activities, assisting with the development of study databases, maintaining accurate records, ensuring confidentiality and security of data at all times and dealing with trial-related telephone queries and post.
You will have a minimum of GCSE at grade C in Maths and English (or equivalent) and a demonstrable ability to use information technology systems, in particular database systems, Microsoft Office packages, email and Internet. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, effective organisational skills and data entry experience with the ability to record data accurately are all essential. You must have effective verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work with others to meet tight deadlines and the ability to prioritise your own workload in the face of changing priorities. Knowledge of medical terminology, experience of working with confidential/sensitive data and experience of working in a research environment are desirable.
This is a full time fixed-term appointment for 18 months.
