Job description

Senior Data Business Analyst
Glasgow

As a Barclays Senior Data Business Analyst, you will act within a team of data partners and analysts, and be responsible for the delivery of an evolving capability within the CDO that is focused on meeting data quality and control standards across multiple areas of the business. This is a unique role for you to enhance your project delivery experience and to investigate business challenges at a detailed level across data sets, operational processes, business controls and applications.

Barclays is one of the world's largest and most respected financial institutions, with 329 years of success, quality, and innovation behind us. We offer careers that provide endless opportunity – helping millions of individuals and businesses thrive and creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We’re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?
• Investigating data to understand the availability, meaning and suitability of data to be used within the function
  • Documenting relevant business processes and finding opportunities to streamline activities and reduce duplication of efforts or redesign the processes
  • Defining of requirements and specifications for proposed data remediation efforts in order to meet regulatory commitments, risk controls and business objectives
  • Delivering impact assessments and business cases to senior stakeholders to obtain buy in for CDO proposed recommendations
  • Managing of a designated set of Risk, finance & Treasury Data Domain(s), proactively facilitating engagement to strengthen the data quality and control environment
  • Handling the governance of mandatory metadata ensuring accuracy and completeness within the Barclay Data Catalogue in line with the Data Standard
  • Owning Data Council and CDO Forum submissions, including active stakeholder management of Council members in addition to supporting data domain working groups
  • Managing both medium and long-term planning to support data maturity transformation within allocated data domains and in conjunction with the overarching business strategy

What we’re looking for:
• Experience in business and data analysis within a complex end-to-end architecture
  • Background and understanding of data and process operating model process re-engineering and ownership
  • Prior experience working independently and proactively on assigned tasks with limited supervision
  • Experience in data management, risk, and controls within a financial services organisation, at a senior level

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Risk, Finance or Treasury business knowledge and understanding
  • Delivery within a regulatory environment e.g., Basel, BCBS 239 etc
  • Process improvement or Lean Six Sigma certification
  • Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE, PMI)

Where will you be working?
Our new state-of-the-art Campus, right in the heart of Glasgow is a hub of creative collaboration. A place where everyone can bring their true selves to work and reach their full potential. Home to 5,000 of our colleagues, our Tradeston campus will support the community in more ways than one - by creating thousands of new career opportunities and celebrating local artists. A short walk from Central Station on the south of the Clyde, it will be a key location for the Barclays business that will deepen our ties with the city and its communities.
