We are always looking for exceptional individuals to join our multinational group of talented professionals and right now we are seeking to appoint a Summer Placement Student to further complement the Engineering Department here at our HQ in Dover!
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated summer placement student to work within the engineering team for 12 weeks to develop, analyse, and present a broad range of manufacturing process data to relevant stakeholders.
This exciting new data analysis project will enable the capture of real-time production data from a recently introduced product. Captured data will be stored and analysed to highlight issues, identify trends, and drive engineering effort and process improvement. The data will provide valuable feedback by proving the effectiveness of changes. All data will need to be presented using graphical visualisation tools.
This is a great opportunity to work on a meaningful project handling real data and implementing a system that drives process improvement.
The Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting professional engineering and production teams with a live project under the guidance of a mentor
- Maintaining a functional database according to engineering and production requirements
- Applying a range of tools and analytical methods to extract relevant and valuable information to improve problem-solving and reduce operational costs
- Presenting data using interactive graphical visualisation software
Required Technical Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills
- Technical knowledge in data science from a relevant university programme or gained from experience/employment
- On track for a first-class or high 2:1 bachelor’s degree (in penultimate year of study) ideally in Data or Computer Science
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues in Engineering and Manufacturing
- Excellent organisational skills
The ideal candidate will have experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Data Acquisition
- Database design / management
- Data Analytics
- Graphical data visualisation
