Role Title: Data Analyst
Business Unit: UKI Finance
Reports to: UKI Head of Reporting & Analytics
Location: City Gate, Newcastle
JOB OVERVIEW
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the UKI Finance team for a Senior Data Analyst. The primary focus will be to support the UK working in the centre on activities across all of our Service Lines. The role will work with Finance Managers, Operations and Local Leadership.
The role will require the individual to provide financial and management information, develop new reports and analysis in collaboration with stakeholders and systematise existing assets. A key part of the role will be presenting this information and analysis to the end user, highlighting variances and actions accordingly.
Candidates will need to demonstrate an understanding of financial analysis work including significant processing and checking. They will need to build credibility and maintain relationships both within the team and the business and have ability to problem solve to overcome constraint.
This role is in a fast-changing evolving environment with a number of changes taking place to the team’s processes and systems as the firm undertakes a Global Finance Transformation Programme. Therefore, the ideal candidate will need to be flexible and have the ability to deal with change on an on-going basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Produce and publish financial reports on a weekly, monthly and ad-hoc basis for the business to monitor performance
- Deal with queries from Business functions, Business Unit community and other staff at all levels
- Support the roll out of new initiatives, systems and processes
- Be proactive in raising the profile of the Data Analyst role in the business
- Be proactive in continuing own professional development
- Explores data to identify trends and relationships between variables
- Utilises different data sources from within the business
- Build, develop, troubleshoot and maintain various reports and dashboards utilising Excel and Power BI
- Ad Hoc Reporting - Deliver high quality analysis, reports, using simple and effective visualizations that can be scaled for consumption by a larger audience.
- Partner with stakeholders to clarify requests and debriefs with client to explain data insights and confirm report
- Deliver timely reporting and dashboards that satisfies requirements
- Work collaboratively with team members to deliver business needs on time
- Creates and maintains documentation of key processes
- Performs checks to ensure data quality and accuracy is consistent on all platforms
- Use software tools to develop reports and analysis which convey relevant and meaningful information to internal customers of all levels in a concise and logical manner
- Downloads required data and creates pre-defined reports as per defined schedule
- Testing: ensure User Acceptance Testing is fully planned and executed
- Assist in identifying testing resources, assigns test cases and assess progress
REQUIREMENTS
- Exposure to financial analysis work, preferably within Professional Services
- Keen to develop a career in Finance
- Numerate with strong data analysis skills
- Computer literate (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word) with the ability to learn the firm’s systems and other data mining tools
- Collaborative, with ability to interact with staff at all levels
- Contributes to team environment and supports juniors within the team
- Able to demonstrate initiative in approach to problem solving
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail, as well as commitment to quality and efficiency
- Client focused with a strong understanding of service concepts
- Strong communication and presentation communication skills
- Ability to change and flexible approach
- 2+ years’ experience as a Data or Financial Analyst
- Knowledge of MS SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and querying using T-SQL
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript and VBA
- Understanding of relational database architecture and querying
- Proficiency in visualisation tools such as PowerBI
DESIRABLE
- Familiar with Alteryx
- Experience with building and maintaining websites
- Previous experience in a project environment, managing your own projects, owning the process from start to end
