The BBC World Service has partnered with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in an ambitious project to deliver compelling stories across digital and broadcast platforms on the theme of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) with a specific focus on ten African countries: Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, Uganda, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Niger, Senegal and Tanzania. We are looking to recruit a data analyst, who will be responsible for producing impact and audience reports, and supporting the smooth and effective running of the partnership project. They will work alongside the production teams in London, Lagos, and Nairobi, and keep abreast of all content produced and published on BBC platforms. They will oversee the social and digital output as well, and help ensure optimum impact and reach for this project. This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented data analyst/impact producer to join the team and create great content.
This is an 18-month fixed term contract. The team is based in London but we would be happy to consider applications from other locations. Main ResponsibilitiesMonitor and audit the performance of assets which have been published across BBC and social media platforms using such tools as Emplifi, Facebook insights and BBC measurement tools.
Develop and maintain documentation, presenting complex data in accessible formats. This may include the partner’s custom trackers, internal documentation or project specific detail.
Use social media listening tools such as Brandwatch and Crowdtangle and search data to find the most compelling stories, topics and relevant audience profiles.
Are you the right candidate?Specific Skills & Experience:
- Experience of using digital and social media analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Emplifi.
- Proficiency in a data wrangling/analysis language e.g. R, Python.
- Data visualisation principles and the ability to construct a narrative from data insight.
- Ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams, collaborating with a variety of analysts and researchers.
- Strong technical aptitude, with an interest in learning/improving programming skills that you will use every day.
Ideal candidates will also demonstrate any of the following:
- Familiarity with SQL and data warehouses (e.g. Redshift)
- Experience of using digital analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, AT Internet)
- Experience with data visualisation tools e.g. Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, other
- Understanding of media analytics, data, measurement, methodologies and industry standards including online and offline channels
- Knowledge and experience of digital media
