About us - West Design Products is an industry leading, family-owned manufacturer, distributor, wholesaler and innovator of quality art, craft, stationery, toy, and education products. We exclusively supply the trade, supporting our customers with a team of field and office-based Account Managers.
We operate out of three sites, with our HQ and distribution centre in Kent, our creative design hub in Dorset and our UK manufacturing site in Devon. We’re proud to serve the UK, European and Global markets, working with over 20,000 products at any given time.
Job Summary - Based at our Plymouth site but reporting to the Group Financial Controller at head office, the Data Analyst will support both the onsite manufacturing team and the Group Financial Controller in understanding the operational efficiency and financial performance of the manufacturing business unit.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Duties
Use data modelling practices to create, develop and critique a full range of performance reporting for senior management, using primarily SQL queries and Crystal Reporting with SAP and Excel.
Communicate with internal stakeholders to understand the needs and requirements of individual departments and the wider business.
Understand and validate the data and reports created.
Supporting various IT-related projects such as the implementation of dashboards using PowerBI.
Ensuring data integrity within SAP and investigating/questioning anomalies with the relevant departments.
Leading stock-related processes, including routine stock takes, investigation of stock differences between SAP and our Warehouse Management System, Setting up New Items and Bill of Materials / Costings
Contributing to the continuous improvement culture of the business through challenging and supporting the resolution of identified business performance issues
Liaising and assisting teams across the business with their queries, carrying out reasonable management requests to support other teams and tasks.
Essential Skills
Education, training and qualifications- Highly numerate and literate, good understanding of IT.
Skills & Knowledge - MS Office proficient, with advanced Excel. Strong SQL knowledge and experience creating and editing complex queries.
Experience - 2 years+ in a similar role, with a focus on report/query writing using SQL.
Personal Attributes - Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure on multiple projects within project timeframes. Passionate about creating solutions, keen to embrace change.
