Your opportunity:

University of Toronto Practice Based Research Network (UTOPIAN) is a network that brings together Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) researchers, primary care clinicians and practices from all its academic sites to answer important healthcare questions and translate findings into practice.

As Care Canvas Data Analyst, you will work in close collaboration with the UTOPIAN Associate Director and POPLAR IT Specialist to drive various research projects within UTOPIAN, with a focus on the Care Canvas Dashboard. You will support the update of an existing quality improvement (“QI”) dashboard which is used by primary care physicians and administrators and the creation of new data features and front-end integrations. You will have end-to-end ownership of the project. You will manipulate incoming data, create metrics, ensure that those changes are reflected properly in the front-end design of the dashboard, and ensure that the dashboard is accessed in a secure manner by end users.

Your responsibilities will include:

• 
  Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables, and reporting
• Analyzing complex data that requires great precision and attention to many details
• Analyzing and writing program scripts to extract data from aPostgres database, reformat, analyze, then present data in a meaningful way for the target audience
• Designing, optimizing and processing data sets
• Running queries to gather data and maintaining data archives
• Probing for information to determine requirements for ad hoc data requests
• Training end-users on procedures and the use of system

Essential Qualifications:

• 
  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum five years of relevant and related experience manipulating and analyzing a variety of data sources
• Experience with and manipulating data in Python
• Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB) data storage
• Basic knowledge of SQL (PostGres)
• Experience with AWS tools (Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, VPC)
• Experience and understanding of current best practices regarding data security and authentication mechanisms (e.g., OAuth 2.0 and OTPs)
• Applied knowledge of machine learning techniques such class regression, classification, natural language processing
• Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability toestablish positive working relationship with research scholars and colleagues
• Self-motivated, team player with strong organizational skills
• Data modelling and data analysis skills
• Decision making regarding work priorities and deadlines must be appropriate in order to maintain an orderly schedule and completion of deadlines materials
• Independent judgment and analytical skills required to perform statistical analyses
• Applied knowledge of machine learning techniques such class regression, classification, natural language processing
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and simultaneously working with on several projects
• Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with all levels of faculty, staff, researchers, clinicians, healthcare professionals and other collaborators
• Tact, initiative, good judgment and patience
• Ability to handle matters of a sensitive and confidential nature

Assets (Nonessential):

• 
  Experience with EMR data and/or administrative data
• Experience with Python’s SciKit Learn

USW Pay Band 13 - $76,284 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $97,556. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
