JOB PURPOSE:
You will be responsible for analysing and improving the Data Quality, across a range of data sets which the Asset Systems Data Quality reports monitor. Data extraction, analysis and updating of records form the central function of the role. This will include collaborating with other departments to ensure data across systems is aligned.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Review Data Quality reports / dashboards to implement opportunities for improvement.

Use engineering knowledge to improve data quality, both completeness and accuracy.

Data extraction and manipulation using advanced Sequel Query Language (SQL) / Visual Basic Techniques.

Maintain the data quality and integrity by auditing, process, and use of data manipulation and modelling techniques.

Undertake data cleansing exercises to improve data quality.

Develop the business processes and associated documentation for management of issues identified in the Data Quality reports.

Communicate with asset engineers and other business system owners to establish rules and extract data held in other systems to inform and address data quality issues.

Contribute to the continued development of the data quality activities and the future development of the associated rules, logic, reports and dashboards.

Maintain the Data Quality Issue Log with a commentary of investigation findings and the action required / taken.

Support and deputise for the Senior Asset Systems Analysts.

Represent UK Power Networks during external audits for matters relating to asset information and associated process compliance.

Identify and guide the implementation of control measures which prevent / limit the input of poor-quality data.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
The role of the Data Quality Data Analyst is of strategic importance within the Asset Management directorate and reports to the Assets Systems Manager.

Whilst Data Quality analysis is focused predominantly on the data in SAP Plant Maintenance it is expected that this will evolve to other data sources within the company. There are over 3 million equipment records in SAP PM, each of which have numerous data points, against which data quality is assessed. Complete and accurate data is important to UKPN to make informed decisions and provide accurate reporting. This reduces our risk and builds confidence for all parties utilising the data.

You will identify and analyse data quality issues. This will involve consultation to identify solutions and the actual update of the records and implementation of appropriate control measure to eliminate / reduce future occurrences.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPEREINCE:
Degree level or equivalent experience in engineering, science, or numerical subject

Previous experience analysing data, developing improvement plans and communicating the output.

Experience of complex data extraction and manipulation using SQL.

Knowledge of SAP Plant Maintenance to include the bulk uploading of data.

Comprehensive knowledge of UK Power Networks network data assets and asset management activities.

Question people and tease out relevant information.

Excellent analytical and numerical skills.

Experience analysing and reporting on complex datasets.

Advanced MS Excel Skills and accomplished in the production and editing of spreadsheets and their manipulation.

Advanced IT skills in the Microsoft Office suite – particularly in SQL MS Access and Visual Basic.
