Desired background: For the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) Analytics Co-op, we are specifically targeting students who have a curiosity about the practical applications of insights captured from data to better understand the impact and opportunities of our EDI strategies.
This is a new role supporting the EDI team in growing analytics capabilities to drive data-based decision making. They will gather EDI data from across the organization through feedback mechanisms and reports and analyze and interpret the results to provide management with strategy recommendations. This includes evaluating existing and new reporting processes and technology.
Minimum Qualifications: Must currently be enrolled in a recognized and accredited Canadian post-secondary institution throughout the duration of the co-op term. You must also be returning to a post-secondary institution after the co-op term is completed. Depending on the needs and location of the team, you will need to work PST or MDT or relocate to a specific office (Vancouver or site-based)

Responsibilities

  • Being a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Leverage Power BI dashboards to build robust EDIReporting
  • Organize large amounts of data into concise and robust summaries, by using and creating dashboards and other reporting tools for leadership and partners
  • Research industry trends and current state related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and effectively communicate results with leadership to ensure that company goals align with or exceed industry standards
  • Supporting the EDIteam with data exploration and analysis, feasibility studies, critical initiatives, running scenario analyses, platform feature development, product integrations, and application (vendor) demonstration(s)
  • Collect and report data concerning external factors, such as unemployment, salary trends, industry growth, and regional demographics
  • Support the compilation, analysis and verification of data for internal and external talent and sustainability reporting
  • Help to craft and deploy the process for delivering regular EDIreports and surveys along with analyzing and interpreting the data to make recommendations to management
  • Conducting regular data cleansing, data preparation, data modeling, and data maintenance
  • Liaise and work across teams, platforms and programs

Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to students in their third and fourth year of studies in business technology management (e.g., Management Information Systems, Computer Science or similar studies)
  • Share the team’s vision on equity, diversity, and inclusion and should demonstrate continuous dedication to helping the Teck meet its goals
  • Previous experience with data analytics, econometric modelling, large-scale surveys, coding and business analysis experience are key assets
  • Keen curiosity about technology and the ability to apply technology to a business process
  • Ability to communicate precisely in a technical environment
  • Able to articulate complex concepts clearly and in a way a diverse audience would understand
  • Consistent record of grasping new technologies and platforms quickly and accurately.
  • Adaptable and open to learning and trying new things
  • Motivated self-starter, able to work under minimal direction and be able to coordinate several tasks and/or projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Power BI and Power Automate
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and a high level of integrity
  • Understanding and knowledge of one or more programming languages would be considered an asset
