Job Overview
The purpose of the Data Analyst role is to work with Southern Water’s H&S department and help build analytics products enabling key stakeholders to self-serve critical insights, as well as working within the governance and data team and use data and analytical methods to identify trends, anomalies, opportunities and answer other key questions relating to the H&S performance for the business.
The Data Analyst is expected to proactively play an analytical role when developing data products for the lines of business, and to develop an understanding of the Southern Water business areas they work with to help spot opportunities to use analytics to drive improvements.
Additionally, the Data Analyst will be expected to work alongside wider H&S team to help influence and input H&S contractor and other third-party H&S data within our digital H&S data management system (existing and upcoming) and carry out data assurance reviews and reporting check from time to time and as required by the governance and data manager.
About You
You will have an eye for detail and a fastidious approach to managing and representing data. A self-starter with an ability to work independently and meet deadlines with excellent interpersonal communication skills. You will be a team player with an appetite and willingness to learn about the organisation and industry. It is important you will have good time management skills and have a flexible approach to working across the Southern Water region.
Essential:
· Previous experience managing large amounts of data across multiple systems.
· An excellent understanding of data administration.
· Experience with data management functions (collection, analysis, distribution etc.)
· An understanding of managing modern databases and information system technologies.
Desirable:
· Have experience of Southern Water or other water utility company systems and processes.
· Understand HSSW Standards and how to apply them.
· Current full UK driving licence and access to a car
· Any previous experience in a similar role as a Data controller
· Have experience in data and analytics technologies such as Qlik, Alteryx,
· Experience in coding and querying languages such as R, SQL, Python
