Job description
The Data Analyst is a crucial role for the College in which you will manage the secure handling of complex audit datasets and the analysis of data with a primary focus on the Epilepsy12 Audit programme. You will also produce reporting outputs at local, regional and national level, including analyses which will inform the development of annual report key findings and recommendations.
Reporting to the RCPCH Audits Team Epilepsy12 Audit Manager, you will create analysis plans and data management and reporting structures in line with the agreed datasets, working closely with the audit clinical lead, RCPCH Audits Team administrators, coordinators and senior analyst and external consultant statistician. You will also work with the Epilepsy12 project team, RCPCH digital team and external suppliers to develop and make improvements to the data processing and presentation functions of the Epilepsy12 data platform.
A vital member of the Audits Team within the Research and Quality Improvement Division, you will establish and maintain robust data management and manipulation processes in line with information governance and data disclosure risk management requirements. You will also act as the primary point of contact for audit data and analysis enquiries received from NHS Trust/Health Boards, regional epilepsy network leads and other key stakeholder organisations. You will also lead in the planning of analytical processes for the frequent reporting of audit key performance indicator results in the public domain in additional to analysis outputs for the audit annual report.
An expert in producing and presenting high quality written reports and information for a range of audiences, you will have a background of working with Stata/R and Microsoft Excel for aggregating, recoding, and merging data, computing new variables, and producing descriptive statistics. You should also have experience of analysing large and complex datasets along with knowledge of statistical methods of analysis and data cleaning, processing and management. Additionally, you should be able to present audit results in a variety of formats and using software such as Power Bi.

Responsibilities
Working across a designated audit programme and other RCPCH-delivered national audits to:
1. Create analysis plans and report structures in line with the agreed datasets, working closely with the project clinical leads, managers, senior data analyst and data platform suppliers.
2. Analyse data to produce unit, ICB, regional and national level results, identifying trends and outliers as defined by the agreed analysis plan and dataset requirements.
3. Establishing and maintaining robust data management, security and manipulation processes in line with data governance and protection requirements.
4. Support the production of reports aimed at different audiences such as clinicians, healthcare policy decision makers and patient stakeholders.
5. Produce data outputs for use by internal and external stakeholders including commissioners and regulators.
6. Act as a point of contact for audit data, technical and analysis enquiries from those submitting data for analysis.
7. Lead in the planning of analytical processes for planned data analysis projects.
8. Contribute to key components of departmental and project reports including interpreting the data analysis and writing editorial content.
9. Support the development and enhancement of data capture software.
10. Any other duties as required to support the College, the work of the audits programme of work and Research and QI Division.
