Job description

Islington Council are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual for the role of Adult Social Care Data Analyst to join the Adult Social Care data, insights and performance team.

The successful candidate would be part of a large analytical team with opportunities to make a real difference to local public sector delivery. The post holder will work on a range of Adult Social Care projects. This will include managing performance reports, statutory returns, working on the Islington data platform and supporting Adult Social Care deep dive analysis. Experience in adult social care is essential, including familiarity with adult social care performance data, delivering statutory returns and/or use of software such as Business Objects, SQL or Power BI.

Overall responsibilities

  • Be responsible to the Principal Adult Social Care Intelligence Specialist for the provision of a comprehensive analytical service.
  • Routinely monitor and describe social care statistics and use a variety of different information sources and analytical methods to support service evaluations.
  • Collate and compile data for routine and ad-hoc sources, for example census information, adult social care outcomes framework, and adult social care survey data.
  • Work with IT to develop the technical capabilities and resources available to the team, such as working on the data platform
  • Prepare accurate performance statistics using local data systems such as Liquid logic and analytical tools such as Power Bi and SQL.
  • Draft reports on relevant matters and present to relevant committees as required.
  • Support the development and deployment of the council’s business intelligence tool.
  • Assist in the general upkeep and development of information systems and explore new sources of information and efficient ways of developing and automating routine reports.
  • Provide a pro-active and responsive information service that includes responding to ad-hoc requests for adult social care information as well as input to longer-term projects and service development.
  • Any other tasks required by the department commensurate with the post holder’s grade.
Following shortlisting, the selection process will comprise of an Analytical and Excel test, followed by a 45-minute interview.

The post holder will be part of the Knowledge, Intelligence and Performance team within Public Health. This is a joint Public Health team working across the London Boroughs of Camden and Islington. As well as our responsibility for public health intelligence, one of our commissioned services is to provide performance management information and analytics to Islington Council’s
Housing and Adult Social Services directorate.
The post holder will work on a range of projects supporting the Adult Social Care Transformation Programme. They will also contribute to the evaluation of local services, and the delivery of performance management data to the Transformation Programme team.
The post holder will collate, analyse and interpret data on health, housing and adult social care outcomes and service performance. This will include delivering performance reports and statutory returns, working on health equity audits, and contributing to the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.
The post holder will work closely with a range of stakeholders across the Council and be part of Islington’s Using Data Better analyst community.
Overall responsibilities

  • Routinely monitor and describe the health status of the local population using a variety of different information sources and analytical methods to support service evaluations.
  • Collate and compile data from routine and ad-hoc sources, which describe the health and wellbeing of Camden & Islington’s population, for example census information, hospital episode statistics, public health outcomes framework, adult social care framework.
  • Produce presentational material for routine and ad-hoc reports including the Annual Public Health Report and the Local Account for adult social care.
  • Prepare accurate performance statistics as required in the delivery of housing and/or adult social care services, including using local data systems such as Liquid logic and analytical tools such as Business Objects and SQL.
  • Draft reports on relevant matters and present to relevant committees as required.
  • Support the development and deployment of the council’s business intelligence tool.
  • Assist in the general upkeep and development of information systems and explore new sources of information and efficient ways of developing routine reports.
