We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Industry Data Analyst to join our team. As a Industry Data Analyst, you will be responsible for providing ad hoc data and analysis support in the insurance industry, particularly focused on auto and commercial liability insurance related to statistical reporting. Your role will involve ensuring data accuracy and consistency, developing and maintaining analysis tools, generating reports, and supporting various automated processes to ensure the broader team is able to perform efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Provide ad hoc data and analysis support to the Data Quality team to ensure data quality and accuracy.
- Assist in the production of reports and exhibits on an annual basis, including the development and maintenance of exploratory analysis tools.
- Create automated comparison reports for auto insurance.
- Generate analysis reports for error and anomaly detection, including data consistency analysis such as claim count validation and matching premium and claim information.
- Provide support related to exploratory analysis tools using Excel integrated with SQL.
- Develop and maintain an Excel-based MS Analysis Service Cube Data Analysis Template library, comparable to MS ProClarity, using centralized VBA.
- Develop algorithms and tools for exploratory and interactive analysis of anomalous insurance data.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- 5+ years of experience in Property & Casualty – Automobile Insurance industry in Canada
- Direct experience working with Automobile Statistical Plan (ASP) data
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or Engineering (or equivalent)
- At least 5 years of experience in data analysis
- Proficiency in SQL, JavaScript and/or Python Programming Languages
- Familiarity with financial exhibit production and the development and maintenance of analysis tools.
- Knowledge of automated report generation processes and tools.
- Ability to perform data consistency analysis and identify anomalies.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Consulting industry experience
- Experience in Property and Casualty insurance in Canada, and experience with Automobile insurance
- Experience in presenting to a variety of audiences with the ability to communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner
