SCOPE OF POSITION


The Data Analyst is responsible for efficient and accurate data interpretation, analysis, and reporting. Given significant responsibility, the Data Analyst is tasked with ensuring accurate, precise, representative and complete data analysis and reporting is delivered to our clients. The Data Analyst will work closely with other members of the Data Team, QA/QC, and personnel in the field to coordinate and implement high quality data acquisition, management, processing and reporting procedures.


The Data Analyst will learn and develop in-depth knowledge around high-end geotechnical, marine, and tailings site characterization projects.


ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS


Data Analytics

  • Utilize statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets that could be helpful for the diagnosis and prediction
  • Manage, control, process and analyze data including but not limited to:
    • Piezocone penetration test data (CPTu) and Seismic CPTu data (SCPTu, Vs, Vp)
    • Surface wave and downhole geophysical testing data (DHS, CHS, MASW)
    • Environmental data (MIP, HPT, EC, OIP-UV)
    • Other geotechnical data (VST, DMT, PMT)
    • Borehole and mine tailings sample data
  • Manage field and geospatial data including updating, cleaning and editing for quality assurance
  • Perform analysis to assess quality and meaning of field data
  • Prepare reports for the management starting trends, patterns, and predictions using factual data

Technical

  • Develop a strong working knowledge of site investigation practices, procedures, and data
  • Develop a strong understanding of in-situ testing data as it relates to geotechnical and mining
  • Develop efficient work practices to meet and exceed client expectations for timely report delivery and develop value added reporting.

Health & Safety

  • Identify with and respect ConeTec’s safety culture, first and
  • Ensure proper preparation and knowledge of all necessary safe operating procedures before beginning any job.

  • Report any safety-related incidents, infractions, or near misses to the Manager and the HSE Officer immediately.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mining, Geological, or Civil disciplines) or Geology / Geophysics
  • Eligible for Professional or Member-In-Training status with an Engineering or Geoscientist association within the United Sates.

Experience Requirements

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in a similar data analytics role
  • Experience running end-to-end data analytic projects including gathering, data collection data cleaning and analysis

Technical Requirements

  • Strong computer skills including a high proficiency with MS Office (in particular with Excel) and the ability to learn the use of new and proprietary software.
  • Technical proficiency regarding database design development, data models, techniques for data mining, and segmentation.
