As a Data Analyst you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders in local markets across all business lines. Leveraging your passion for cities and real estate, you will capture, review and enhance micro data resulting from daily real estate market activities.
Responsibilities:This newly created role which will require an initial period of upfront data entry, will soon evolve into the analyst role which will see a typical day split between:
- reviewing products daily and ensuring that core real estate data recently added to platform including properties, images, documents, companies, leases, sales and availabilities appear complete, consistent, high quality and are displaying correctly
- reviewing functionality daily to ensure processes and interactions involving data work seamlessly
- engage with local resources to capture and enhance real estate data on properties, companies, availabilities, leases, sales
- reading news on local city, business, economic, company, infrastructure, demographic and real estate market activity
- meeting/speaking with both internal and external stakeholders around market activities
- updating status of properties under construction and enhancing data on property, tenants and ownership
- adding/updating data on platform utilizing publications, public filings, public records and third-party data providers
- reading, abstracting and adding data from industryspecific websites, newsletters and publications and company and investor websites, newsletters, public filings and investor presentations
- searching and pulling data from public records around ownership, sales, debt, permits, zoning and tax assessments
- adding/updating and structuring data related to property attributes such as ceiling heights, column spacing and amenities, leases such as rents, incentives, headcounts and expirations
- availabilities and touring activity
- adding/maintaining data from internal systems and processes by reaching out to industry insiders to track down missing data points such as:
- Property data - status, original construction and renovation dates, architect, developer
- Company data - industry, headcount, revenue and locations
- Availability data - status, size, timing, rent, incentives and buildout
- Lease data - size and date based on availabilities being removed from system; following up by utilizing technology and algorithms and reaching out to populate full details
- Sale data - transaction type, yields, buyers and sellers and ensuring sale links to correct property
- assisting division team members by ensuring documents loaded are fully abstracted and that marketing materials, rent rolls and stacking plans are added to properties
To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential task at an above average level. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 1+ year experience in commercial real estate or real estate course work preferred
- Passionate about cities and real estate
- Dedicated to data as an art and science
- Sound knowledge of the GTA is preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft excel preferred
- Possess characteristic traits of independent thinking, self-starting initiative while working well in a team-oriented environment
- Must be able to handle flexibility in task management while having a keen eye for detail
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely is essential
- Ability to multi-task, utilize effective time management skills, and be able to recognize and respond to time sensitive issues and tasks
