We're now recruiting a Growth Marketing Manager to take responsibility for leading the strategy and execution of the go-to-market plans across traditional and digital channels to reach, attract and convert the right prospects with AJ Bell in line with agreed targets and CPAs. This position sits within the D2C Marketing arm of AJ Bell.

What does the job involve?

In close partnership with the Senior Acquisition Manager, you’ll translate overall acquisition strategy into an evidence-based go-to-market plan.

The Growth Marketing Manager is responsible for understanding our prospect segments and identifying marketing channels, solutions and ideas that will efficiently drive new customers to visit AJ Bell, open an account and fund it.

You’ll call on your in-depth knowledge of our prospect audiences and capabilities across traditional and digital channels to effectively create both demand and lead generation programmes that drive awareness, disrupt, engage and attract prospects to AJ Bell.

As our audience needs and behaviours adapt (particularly with respect to media consumption), you’ll anticipate and spot these trends and act on it, ensuring marketing channels are continuously being developed and optimised to address these changes and meet our audience needs.

This position requires effective stakeholder management both internally and externally – we see our agencies and key suppliers as an extension of our team, and you’ll be bringing everyone together (from the wider Marketing team through to Brand, PR, Product, internal Studio and external agencies/suppliers) to cultivate outstanding relationships to enable individuals to deliver their best work. You’ll drive a strong sense of accountability from the onset and throughout the campaign planning process to ensure activity is aligned and integrated, delivered to the highest standard, on time and within budget.

You can think big and test small (including AB tests) to drive acquisition and conversion rate optimisation across a number of traditional and digital channels including TV, press, PR, events, out of home, radio, paid search, paid social, influencers, digital PR and email marketing.

You’ll be responsible for managing the marketing budget each month and regularly reporting on marketing activity, trends and recommendations for improvement to senior management. You’re obsessed with identifying opportunities optimise how we achieve our targets to bring down CPAs.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and deliver the acquisition go-to-market strategy based on data and insights
  • Cultivate outstanding relationships with key media (i.e. digital, affiliates) and creative agencies
  • Lead and support key suppliers and in-house teams (Brand, internal Studio, PR and Product) to deliver integrated and aligned creatives across multiple platforms
  • Deliver and embed always on test-measure-learn to continually improve
  • Establishing dashboards to communicate impact of activity against agreed metrics and value back to the business
  • Ongoing monitoring of performance of activity – linking marketing inputs with outputs and recommendations for further optimisation back to the business
  • Partner with the Senior Acquisition Manager to support analysis of marketing attribution data to inform where and how acquisition plans can be optimised
  • Ongoing budget management across multiple channels
  • Management of direct reports (Marketing and Senior Marketing Executive)

About you:

  • A genuine interest in personal finance and investments
  • Passionate about people and cultivating outstanding relationships
  • Experience in competitive, customer centric, commercial, heavily regulated and fast paced environments
  • Customer obsession – Insight and evidence-based approach to identify and meet customer needs
  • Creative thinking and problem solving
  • Clear, effective and persuasive verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management / campaign planning
  • 5+ years’ experience in performance / growth marketing
  • Confident executing paid and organic campaigns across all digital channels (for example using Google or Facebook Ads), as well as tracking performance through tools such as Google Search Console or Firebase
  • Proven track record of driving demand, growth and revenue
  • Data-driven, with a test and learn mindset which drives increased performance
  • Experience managing senior stakeholders and producing regular detailed MI and analysis on campaigns and activity
  • People management skills would be an advantage
