Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of Fusion Housing.
FUSION HOUSING works across Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield districts of West Yorkshire providing help for our communities to find and maintain housing through legal advice, employment support, learning opportunities, supported accommodation and local food bank provision.
As a CUSTOMER SERVICES ADVISOR you will undertake initial assessments to identify the needs of our clients. You will provide information and advice to assist and empower the customer to resolve their problem. You will provide guidance to clients with housing, financial and support needs and may be required assist with benefit claims and budgeting. You will need an awareness relating to housing advice and homelessness and have good customer service skills.
You must also have strong communication skills and the ability to work in a busy, fast paced environment with a commitment to helping vulnerable people.
The role includes:
- Assessing client needs and working to identify appropriate support/advice provision.
- Being non-judgemental and supportive to client needs.
- Managing people’s expectations; being open and honest about the options available to them.
- Working with people from different parts of the community, understanding cultural and individual differences and how this affects their housing need.
- Having a knowledge of housing systems and an awareness of working with people who may struggle with their mental/physical wellbeing, substance use, homelessness.
- Working in a small team that is committed to learning and development.
