Job description
What does Stamper Discs do?
To make a vinyl record, 'stampers' are fitted inside a vinyl press. When they are pressed down onto a piece of heated PVC, these stampers precisely form the grooves in the record. The stampers are manufactured in a multi-stage process involving the deposition of nickel in an electroplating bath, and then trimming and shaping the stamper to fit the mould that it will be attached to in the record press.
Stamper Discs has set up the first new galvanics plant in the UK for 40 years. After a successful 4 years, we are currently increasing our capacity through an expansion due to be completed in April 2023.
We're looking for someone to be a contact point for all our customers and also to help out with other business admin tasks.
If you are friendly and outgoing, have fanatical attention to detail, and you want to be part of the revitalized vinyl record industry — then apply to join the team at Stamper Discs.
We're looking for someone to join our small and friendly team to help out in customer service. If this sounds like this is the job for you then please get in touch. We offer a starting salary of £22k rising to £23k after training (or a starting salary of £24k if you have existing bookkeeping experience and qualifications), a bonus scheme, and endless opportunities to learn and develop as the business grows.
This job is offered full-time with the option of part-time hours for the right candidate.
What kind of person and skills are we looking for?
Someone who cares about giving our customers an exceptional service and ensure the smooth running of our accounts.
Customer service:
- Fanatical attention to detail: there's a lot of different catalog numbers, product sizes, and process options to keep track of
- Strong organisational skills
- Empathy with our customers. You put yourself in their shoes, and you can pick up and understand what they want – and you care about making that happen.
- The ability to write well-crafted emails that tell customers what they need to know in a professional manner.
- To be happy speaking to customers on the phone, and to come across as friendly and engaging.
- You also need to be a fast learner, hard working, and happy working in a very small team.
- You don't need to know about vinyl record production – we'll train you up. But you'll probably be very interested in music and like the idea of working in the revitalized vinyl industry.
Business Admin:
- Good mathematical skills with the ability to spot numerical errors
- To be able to quickly learn new software (Xero Accounting)
- Basic competence in use of spreadsheets
- Previous basic bookkeeping experience would be useful, but not essential
What we offer
- A share of a bonus scheme each year if the company makes a profit above a basic target
- A 4% contribution to a NEST pension scheme (you will also have to contribute 4%)
- 20 days annual holiday plus 8 days public holidays
- Working in a friendly non-hierarchical team, where your voice and views will be important
