High school diploma or GED; three years of customer service experience, preferably in the criminal justice field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of office administrative duties. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Excellent oral and written communication skills and multi-tasking ability. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice’s “Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy” and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check. Must be a US citizen or have been a lawful resident of the US for the past ten consecutive years.
Provide customer service and administrative support to the public and department personnel. Process subpoenas and freedom of information act requests; compose and type various correspondence; answer and screen telephone calls; accept and account for monies received; complete requisitions and maintain records; file; respond to and distribute mail; respond to officer and citizen requests; and perform checks through the Virginia Criminal Information Network and National Crime Information Center. Perform other work as required. This position is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.
