Job Introduction

The starting salary for this role is £11,837.50 per annum pro rata to £23,675, working 18 hours per week based at one of our Adult Learning Centres at least one day a week, with the option to work from home the rest of the time.

The working hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 8:45am to 3:15pm.

Surrey Adult Learning has seven centres across North and South West Surrey and is looking to appoint a Customer Advisor for its Customer Service Team. The Customer Service Team is a busy, friendly team of several part time members of staff, whose main responsibility is to provide a high level of customer service directly to members of the public. The team forms part of the larger Learning Services Team within Surrey Adult Learning.

This role will be part of a team acting as the first point of contact for telephone enquiries and enrolments for adults interested in attending adult learning classes. You will provide initial information and advice, and a high level of customer care. You will input real time enrolments, process payments and refunds, along with attendance and achievement data on the Service's Management Information System (MIS). You will have worked in a similar customer service role previously and have an interest in adult learning.

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be well organised. You will need to be a strong team player with excellent administration skills and the ability to manage their own workload, meet deadlines and prioritise as required. High standards of accuracy and attention to detail are required.

  • Good IT skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Surrey Adult Learning provide a wide range of daytime, evening and Saturday courses and learning opportunities for adults. The provision includes a range of qualification courses predominantly in English, including English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), maths and digital skills; courses for those with learning disabilities, mental health conditions and parents/carers wanting to upskill to support their children. Courses for personal development in a wide range of subjects such as arts and crafts, languages and exercise as well as our outreach provision for those currently facing life challenges.
