The vision of Derby College Group (DCG) is to create world-class, accessible education opportunities that enrich lives and make bright futures a reality for all. DCG is committed to providing educational excellence, championing social mobility and driving economic prosperity. We deliver high-quality academic, vocational and technical education that empowers people to achieve their ambitions while providing employers across the Midlands and beyond with the talented workforce of tomorrow.
We are recruiting for a well-motivated CSA yard supervisor in the Equine department. We are looking for someone who has experience within the equine industry. Duties include supervising students, assisting loan horse owners, care of the horses, getting horses ready for lessons, running the day-to-day yard and assisting with practical lessons amongst other duties as required to support the yard.
Derby College Equestrian Centre is a very busy, forward-thinking centre. The team are ambitious and proud of their achievements and work environment. We are a small, hands-on, and extremely hard-working team, always striving for excellence. We adopt a professional and industry correct manner and create an environment where the care and promotion of the horse’s welfare is our primary concern.
Whilst we have guided working hours, as in all equine related jobs, the day finishes when all the duties are done, and not when the finishing time comes around, therefore a willingness to work flexibly is required.
You should be organised and have excellent interpersonal skills together with a commitment to working effectively as part of a team.
Your primary focus will be supervising students working on the yard and ensuring health and safety procedures are always followed and ensuring the horses welfare needs are met.
Benefits of working at Derby College:
- Funded training and development
- Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
- 34 days holiday (inclusive of 8 bank holidays and 6 closure days where these occur)
- TOTUM discount card (student discount card equivalent)
- Discounted train travel
- Discounted onsite Little Explorers Nursey
- Eye Care
- Cycle to Work Scheme
- Employee Assistance Programme.
If you are passionate about developing the workforce of the future, then we would love to hear from you – we are proud of our diverse workforce and welcome applications from the whole community.
DCG is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and all successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Please be advised that it is an offence to apply for this position if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
