We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Data Curator to join our organization and serve as a vital link between our Medical Affairs and Data Science teams. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless integration and curation of medical data, managing the quality of data received from clinical sites, and facilitating the usage of that data internally within the company. This role will act as a liaison between Altoida and the external contributors to our ongoing studies (site PIs and data collection staff). You will also work across teams within Altoida to query and provide data for the use cases of data science, product, medical, and sales - understanding which data is relevant for each team and providing consistent explanations of what is being shared. You will play a critical role in helping maintain accuracy and consistency for the data within Altoida, enabling informed decision-making and advancing our organization's goals as a data-driven company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data quality management, exceptional project management skills, and a passion for improving healthcare outcomes. This position reports to the Vice President of Product and Software Development.
Responsibilities
- Be the primary point of contact for data management at Altoida.
- Manage communication and interactions with the clinical sites at any moment when an exchange of data between the clinical sites and Altoida is being planned or occurs.
- Make sure the sites provide Altoida with data that can be documented (e.g. all clinical measurements are clearly labeled), and retrieve any data labeling that is missing or incorrect.
- Collaborate with the Product Team to develop a template for data collection during clinical trials.
- Collaborate with the Medical Team and provide them with clean datasets to analyze for publication purposes.
- Collaborate with the Data Science team to ensure the integrity of the incoming data, and to help them select the most appropriate dataset to use to train ML models.
- Develop and maintain standardized data formats to facilitate data integration and interoperability.
- Collaborate with the Data Science and the Medical Team to develop and implement a Data Quality Index, with the future goal of including it in the main Altoida Data Pipeline.
- Implement data governance policies, including data access controls, data retention, and data sharing agreements, in compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
- Assist in data analysis tasks, such as exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization, to derive meaningful insights and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation, reports, and presentations related to data curation processes, data governance, and compliance activities.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Neuroscience, Psychology, Data Science, Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, or a related discipline). Advanced degree preferred.
- Entry-level background in Python and databases like SQL.
- Familiarity with data curation best practices, data modeling, and database management systems.
- Experience communicating across teams and effectively establishing consistency across multiple groups of stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders with a medical background.
- Experience with verifying data integrity.
- Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations, such as HIPAA and GDPR, and experience ensuring compliance in a healthcare or research setting.
- Experience creating high-quality documentation of data.
If you are passionate about data curation, have a strong foundation in medical and data sciences, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we would love to hear from you.
