South West Museum Development (SWMD) is looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference to the inclusivity and relevance of the South West’s museum sector as a Cultural Producer for our externally funded Travelling Together project.
Travelling Together aims to create an inclusive, engaging programme of museum development support and activity. It will enable ten core participant museums alongside the wider museum and heritage sector to grow their accessibility and to engage with the widest range of people. Travelling Together is funded through a combination of National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England grant funding.
The Cultural Producer role is a flexible, part time fixed term role to March 31, 2024, based at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery. If you are a proactive about supporting museums to progress equality, diversity and inclusivity and want to gain solid practical experience working on a large-scale lottery-funded project, then apply to join our collaborative and ambitious team!
You will support the delivery of all aspects of project activity from design and development to implementation and evaluation, working with museums of all sizes as well as specialists in equity, diversity and inclusion and museum development colleagues across the region.
South West Museum Development receives funding from Arts Council England and Local Authorities from across the region to deliver museum development initiatives to 200+ museums across the South West of England. This role involves some regional travel across the South West.

For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.
