Cumbria Constabulary is recruiting a full-time permanent Crime Scene Investigator Team Leader. Applications are invited from both experienced and also trainee CSMs with considerable CSI experience and who must commit to attending a College of Policing accredited CSM training course. Any non-CSM qualified candidate must also successfully complete a CSM Development Plan within the first two years.

The successful candidate will be based within the Cumberland or Westmorland & Furness policing areas but will be required to regularly cover the whole county in connection with their supervisory and CSM duties.

The CSI TL works a 7-day rota which includes weekend working and out of hours standby duties. This is a demanding role, and the post-holder may be required to work extended hours of duty on a frequent basis. This will also involve working in difficult and demanding environments.

As a CSI TL you will be expected to have a wide range of knowledge and skills, be conversant with ISO 17020 standards and experienced in leading a team of highly skilled individuals working in a technical area.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has excellent communication skills, individual resilience and the ability to critically evaluate complex information. The successful candidate must have a high standard of report writing, excellent communication skills across a wide range of people and the ability to lead a team of CSIs during the examination of extensive and complex crime scenes, often in difficult circumstances.

This a is a key role in the CSI department and the successful candidate must be able to inspire and motivate his/ her team to achieve high levels of performance in both operational activities and also in the compliance with ISO 17020 and associated codes.
