Job description
1. Prepare and maintain the cricket pitches and outfield to an agreed standard during period of employment i.e. through spring, summer and early autumn.
2. Agree, and adhere, to the plans for ongoing pitch preparation agreed with Line Manager at the start of the season.
3. Discuss maintenance operations, and usage and preparation of pitches and practice pitches, with Line Manager weekly
4. Pitch stumps and remove covers on morning of all home fixtures and Sunday 1st XI and representative games.
5. Ensure covers are appropriately positioned during periods when rainfall is expected. If covers are required on Friday (after liaising with Junior Match Manager) and Saturday Nights (after liaising with appropriate Team Captain) recommendations should be made instructing the players on which pitch the covers should be placed.
6. Re-mark and clean wicket ends during Saturday fixtures and Sunday 1st XI and
representative games.
7. Maintain machinery by keeping them clean, oiled, etc. If necessary, after discussion with Ground Convenor, liaise with mechanics for servicing and/or repairs.
8. Maintain and ensure surrounds of playing arena and terracing in front of the pavilion are well-presented at all times.
9. Provide work for any formal assistants – as per Line Manager’s requirements - during their period of employment.
10. Conduct appropriate end of season renovation work on square and other areas.
11. Ensure pavilion clubhouse, garage, cellar and storage container are securely locked when off-site and during the end of each day.
Liaise with independent umpires and appropriate captains/junior convenor where there are doubts about any fixture BEFORE a decision is made by them
