Job description
Penmount Crematorium, Truro, undertakes i.r.o. 1600 cremations per year and is looking for a new member of staff to join the current close knit and efficient team.
Duties are varied and will include working in the chapels as a chapel attendant, in the crematorium as a crematorium technician and in the gardens. Training will be provided as necessary. It is essential that the staff attitude is one of consideration and understanding for the bereaved to ensure that the service runs smoothly to provide an experience that is as stress free as possible for mourners and visitors to the crematorium.
Requirements of the position are as follows: To work as a member of the Crematory, Chapel and Garden Teams.
To maintain good relations and to converse in a sensible manner with ministers, funeral directors, drivers and other crematorium staff in order to present an appropriate atmosphere at all times.
To assist with maintaining the gardens and grounds of the crematorium in a presentable and tidy order.
To provide a helpful, dignified, understanding and efficient service to mourners and other visitors to the crematorium.
Basic IT skills essential
Good oral communications skills essential
Ability to observe confidentiality, maintain dignity and attention to detail essential
Previous experience of working with the public in a sensitive environment desirable
First aid qualification desirable
NVQ II or above in Horticulture desirable
Current horticultural equipment training certificates desirable
Crematorium Technicians Training Scheme certificate desirable
