Overview

Are you a people person?

A good communicator with proven problem-solving skills?

Do you have a keen eye for attention to detail, and pride yourself on giving the best customer service every time?

We are looking for a compassionate, motivated and enthusiastic individual who is committed to delivering a high standard of administration and customer service to support our Crematoria.

Working at our Chilterns and Bierton Crematoria offices, you will be contracted to work every Saturday as well as 4 flexible days Monday to Friday. You’ll be making sure that every customer visiting our offices receives the highest standard of service at an emotionally charged time.

About us

We are a small team based at Chilterns Crematorium, Amersham, and Bierton Crematorium, Aylesbury. We are proud of the work we do and pride ourselves as the leading crematoria of choice, consistently providing high-quality cremation and commemoration services.

Our Service Mission is to ensure a tranquil and welcoming space for everyone in our community to access our services and providing a respectful and tailored experience with sensitivity and empathy, by professional and caring staff.

In this varied role, you’ll be providing an essential service to bereaved members of our communities' taking bookings for cremation services and scattering of ashes, responding to enquiries, assisting at commemorative events such as Open Days and Remembrance Services, providing advice on our services and issuing cremated remains following statutory guidelines.

Career development is something we take seriously; we love nothing more than seeing our colleagues grow with us, with many members of the team progressing quickly as they gain more experience and responsibilities within their specialist areas.

We’re committed to building an exceptional crematoria team, utilising our team members’ talent, and making the most of what they have to offer. With a strong and supportive management team behind you, you’ll be encouraged to develop your skills in areas of interest to you and you’ll have access to further training within the crematoria industry.

About the role

As a Crematoria Administrator, you’ll work as part of a dedicated and friendly team, to provide a high-quality service that is responsive to our customer's needs. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Responding to enquiries from service users, making bookings for cremation services and ashes scatterings and showing bereaved relatives and other visitors the chapel and other facilities.
  • Processing statutory cremation forms and accurate data entry into the Epilog system.
  • Investigating and resolving issues that prohibit cremations from taking place in accordance with cremation regulations and facilitating inspection of documents by Cremation Applicants, before the cremation takes place, should this be requested.
  • Processing memorial applications and organising the placement of memorials with the gardens of remembrance.
  • Collection, receipting and banking of fees and maintaining financial records; you will also raise orders for goods and services and process invoices for payment.

Fixed

As a ‘fixed’ worker, you’ll spend most of your time in the same location, which will likely be a fixed office or location where your role is performed. Typically, you’ll be based in the same location as the rest of your team, because you provide a particular service from that fixed location or need access to information there.

About you

  • You’ll demonstrate relevant customer-focused experience working in a customer-facing/contact role.
  • You have good communication and interpersonal skills and can communicate sensitively and compassionately with bereaved families.
  • You have good planning and organisational skills to ensure that cremation documentation is completed to deadlines.
  • You have proven experience in calculating, applying for and banking fees and payments.
  • You have good literacy and numeracy skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and respond to enquiries
  • You can deal responsively and appropriately with mourners from a variety of faiths.
