Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.
Background on the Position
The role will reside within Firm Risk Management's Credit Risk Management (CRM) Department. Credit Risk Management (CRM) determines risk appetite, approves and manages credit and counterparty risks on an industry, client, geography and transaction basis. CRM team assigns Internal Credit Ratings to our client base; establishes and manages credit risk limits in accordance with the risk tolerance established by the Board; monitors and reports on credit risk exposures on a regular basis to the Chief Risk Officer and senior management. CRM also interacts with business units to ensure that credit risk assessments are factored into business decisions.
CRM is looking to hire an Analyst for the Credit Risk Portfolio Analysis and Reporting function. The team was established to consolidate and expand capabilities in portfolio analysis and reporting and works closely with credit coverage officers, Business Units and other Risk functions. The team provides in-depth exposure analyses and risk insights for the global credit portfolio, covering all types of lending and traded products. The analyses support senior management's understanding of current risk drivers, portfolio concentrations and correlations as well as potential tail risks.
Primary Responsibilities
> Support in the preparation of materials for senior risk committees
> Assist in the design and implementation of enhanced analysis and reporting capabilities, collaborating with Credit IT and Risk Reporting functions
> Collaborate with the Credit Risk Head of Coverage to identify, understand and communicate exposure trends and developments
> Provide support for weekly and/or monthly portfolio reviews for specific products and participate in review meetings with business units and senior management
> Identify and support in the resolution of data quality issues related to portfolio analysis
> Support reporting related to requests from regulators and ratings agencies

QUALIFICATIONS
> Bachelor's degree or equivalent
> Experience in credit portfolio analysis/reporting in large financial services firms
> Familiarity with financial products and risk management concepts
> Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both written and verbally
> Strong attention to detail and ability to provide information in usable formats (proficiency in Microsoft office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
> Ability to extract and analyse data using SQL, VBA, Python (preferred)
