John Scott Meat is a family run business based in Paisley. Specialising in top quality meat, John Scott Meat continues to go from strength to strength with their foundation of trust between the company, its suppliers, and customers never wavering. John Scott Meat delivers meat to quality butchers, wholesalers, and caterers throughout Scotland and the South East of England. Sandyford Abattoir is also part of the business on site which allows John Scott Meat to have complete control of its product from farm to customer.
We are now looking for a Credit Controller who will be responsible for a range of duties covering a proactive role in managing and collecting debts of company debtors and ensuring payments are on track to be paid within agreed terms.
Job summary
Some of the tasks include:
- Taking a proactive role in managing and collecting debts of company debtors
- Setting up terms and conditions of credit
- Ensuring payments are on track to be paid within agreed terms
- Chasing overdue invoices and payments via telephone and email
- Negotiating repayment plans
- Processing and reconciliation of invoices
- Checking and posting of receipts to accounting systems
- Preparation of statements, and client statements
- Managing internal and external debt payment questions and enquiries
- Reconciling accounts
- Reducing debtors ‘days sales outstanding’
- Ensuring all staff adhere to credit and collection procedures
- Negotiating fair repayment plans with customers who are struggling to pay their debts
- Creating weekly debtor reports and accounts information for internal departments.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with debtors

- Able to clearly explain financial matters
- Ability to prioritise workload

- Proficient data entry and processing skills
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel/Word (which system we use)
- Previous experience in a credit controller role.
Full time permanent position. Salary dependent on experience.
