The Role:
We are looking for a self-motivated and commercially orientated Credit Controller to join the finance team, to deal with all aspects of credit control, by working closely with our UK and International sales teams, and regional sales divisions as well as overseeing the Company’s debts.
- Monitor customers accounts to ensure timely payment & maintaining accurate records
- Chasing and pre-chasing all outstanding invoices, highlighting any payment issues to the appropriate Sales Team and Management Accounts Team
- In agreement with Sales Teams & Finance Director, negotiating payment plans and where appropriate commence legal proceedings if clients do not pay in a timely manner
- Prepare aged debtor reporting (including debtor days) and provide insightful commentary when presenting this data to management
- Taking responsibility for customer accounts as defined by Management Accounts Team, ensuing effective cash collection to support the company’s working capital target
- Allocating cash receipts & credit notes promptly to ensure the accuracy of the Sales Ledger
- Query resolution of customer deductions and disputes, ensuring these are investigated and processed swiftly. Highlighting any issues to the Sales Account Manager and escalating to the Management Accounts team if not resolved in a timely manner
- Managing all new and existing customer set up, including credit checks and monitoring credit alerts. Reviewing customer’s credit limits & approving or denying changes based on industry standards
- Preparation of the weekly cash forecast, pulling information from the system and checking the data is correct. Escalating any issues to the Management Accounts Team in a timely manner.
- Work closely with the Sales teams to develop and maintain customer relationships
Your experience
The successful candidate will be a confident and experienced Credit Controller who is comfortable building relationships right across our business. With a minimum of 3 years’ experience, you will ideally have worked with various sized customers from a few thousand pounds to over a million pounds, (including non-UK/multicurrency customers).
You will be self-motivated and proactive able to work autonomously and analytically, creatively problem-solving difficult collections.
You will be happy to get your sleeves rolled up and be able to manage multiple priorities and make pragmatic decisions to ensure deadlines are met.
Skills required:
· Excellent Excel skills (at least intermediate level).
· Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
· Working knowledge of SAP Business1 will be desirable and be able to work with other systems and software, and experience in evaluating and extracting data.
· Strong negotiation and communication skills.
· Knowledge of credit control best practices and legal regulations.
Possess good written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively work with a wide range of stakeholders and staff.
Knowledge of the publishing industry in this context would be advantageous.
