Job Summary
The University of Texas at Arlington is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the assistant director of Creative Media. This position will assist in guiding the department’s creative video and digital strategy related to event coverage and creative content, while also collaborating with other key content developers. The primary focus of this position is supporting the needs of the department’s external operations related to revenue generation and content ideation. The individual within this role serves as a key member of the external relations Team to promote UTA Athletics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform all assignments from the Assistant Athletic Director/Marketing with little or no supervision including but not limited to:
- Serve as the primary men’s and women’s basketball videographer, projects include but not limited to: hype videos, highlights, features, and season previews/recaps.
- Collaborate with athletics external relations team to develop video content to support social media and web distribution needs (“hype” pieces, highlight packages, features, motion graphics, etc.) as well as live video streaming.
- Create, shoot, edit, and produce intro videos for the 2 highest revenue generating sports within UTA
- Lead the creative vision for developing video content for social media and the athletics website, including shooting, editing, and producing features, recaps, etc.
- Research and assess new video methods and technology and make recommendations for new equipment, modifications, or process enhancements as appropriate.
- Fulfill needs of athletics marketing via promotional video elements such as commercials and creative content.
- Package video content to showcase sport programs, athletics facilities, support services, etc.
- Maintain active inventory of all video equipment and work with Director of Video to prioritize short- and long-term video equipment needs
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two (2) years of experience in post-production, preferably in athletics or the equivalent experience. Feature & hype video editing experience.
- Videography experience including knowledge and understanding of cinematic camera use for promotional and internal video.
- Experience using non-linear editing software systems and motion graphic creation, as demonstrated in reel.
- Knowledge of computer/server components, both internal and external, and how they work in a controlled network setting.
- Knowledge of professional camera equipment and how to use them for post-production highlights. Knowledge of various post-production software, edit styles, music and how to use them to promote, inspire, motivate and education the team, staff and the general public with those videos. Knowledge and understanding of all NCAA and conference rules and regulations regarding compliance issues and film trade.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience in athletic videography/production with a Division I intercollegiate or professional sport organization.
- Solid working knowledge of industry standard software and applications such as Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, etc.
