Full Time Richmond, Yorkshire and the Humber, England 30 GBP HOURLY Today
Job description

Creative Learning Practitioner

Richmond Theatre is a spectacular grade two listed large-scale presenting venue, hosting a vibrant programme featuring high quality touring theatre as well as comedy, music, community performances and an annual pantomime. The venue works closely with Richmond Theatre Trust (RTT), an independent charitable Trust whose programme of creative learning work complements and enhances that of the theatre. RTT's objectives are to provide inspiring creative arts experiences to enable young people who experience any kind of disadvantage to learn new skills, develop talents, create and perform.

Creative Learning & Community Partnerships is a dynamic department which delivers a high-quality programme of award-winning cultural education which is locally driven, with national significance! The Richmond Creative Learning team are embarking on a new relaunch, with new programmes, workshops and projects for audiences, schools, emerging artists, and the communities most local to us. As we prepare for our exciting relaunch, we are driven by focus on Diversity, Relevance & Resilience in all that we do.

Creative Learning teams are passionate, multi-faceted and talented individuals. Staff are innovative in their approach to Creative Learning delivery and coordination, consciously ensuring that the local programme responds to the needs and opportunities of the area with ingenuity, finesse, and integrity.

We are looking for talented practitioners whose facilitation style can be tailored to a broad cross section of the community and education sector, with an awareness of the wider cultural and social barriers participants may face in accessing theatre, and an understanding of the needs of groups who find theatre harder to reach.

We are specifically looking for practitioners with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Musical Theatre
  • Dance (general)
  • Acting
  • Film and Media production
  • Voice and Musical Direction

You will have the opportunity to plan and deliver workshops and creative projects as required for the wider CLCP Programme both show related and non-show related. We are also looking for one or more individuals to facilitate our regular classes, such as Step into Richmond and Twirling Toddlers. You will work with our team in a Freelance Practitioner capacity, supporting our commitment to successful working partnerships with visiting production companies, local arts organisations, education institutions and individual emerging artists. You will also be working with young people identified as ‘at-risk’ of leaving education due to currently experiencing or at risk of developing emotional, mental health or complex behavioural needs.

We actively encourage applicants with non-traditional routes into the arts.

Please note that this position will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks including references, a Disclosure and Barring Check and proof of relevant insurance for freelancers.

We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and strive to provide a stage for everyone. Onstage and off, we hold ourselves accountable for nurturing an inclusive culture. Find out more about us and our values at atg.co.uk and careers.atg.co.uk

We are a Disability Confident Committed Employer, which means that we are taking action to ensure that people with disabilities and long-term health conditions feel supported, engaged and able to fulfil their potential in the workplace. We will offer an interview or recruitment event to disabled candidates who tell us they wish to participate in the scheme and who demonstrate in their application that they best meet the essential criteria for the role. Where we receive more applications than we are reasonably able to interview for any given role, we will retain applications for the next available interview opportunity wherever possible.

If you’d like to discuss accessibility prior to applying, please review our job description where you can find our contact details to request a confidential discussion.
