Design Team Overview

The Creative team at Preqin provide creative support and design engaging solutions for various business problems across Marketing, product and other business wide departments. The team are also the guardians of the Preqin brand.

You will be joining a growing design department (20+) of creative designers and product designers. The candidate will be required to manage a team of creative designers as well as strategically elevate design across the business.
Responsibilities:
This is an exciting and challenging role suitable for someone who has previous experience managing high performing creative teams in the creative / marketing industry.
We’re looking for an accomplished Creative Lead / manager that has experience of managing & coaching designers with varying skill sets. Working with a customer-centric product and/or brand oriented marketing campaigns across a range of touchpoints (digital and print).

As an experienced coach and leader, you will guide and inspire a talented team of designers to achieve excellence in all areas of creative design. From branding and interactive campaigns to digital marketing and print publishing, to animation and video production, your team will tackle a diverse range of tasks with energy and skill. As you lead by example, you will help your team to push the boundaries of what is possible and consistently deliver outstanding results.

You’ll lead by example and demonstrate best practise to those you manage and the wider business. You’ll be expected to form tight working relationships within the business and engage with marketing stakeholders to improve and iterate on processes and outputs.
You will be a master of your craft and are confident in art direction and designing innovative marketing collateral to best promote our products and services. This will be a strategic, more hands-off role, but you should be prepared to jump on the design tools and support the team when needed.

You will be actively working with senior marketing managers and other design leads on strategy, vision, culture and implementation.

We'd breakdown the two main day to day areas as the following:

Team & work management
  • Manage a team of designers focussing on coaching and development of your team.
  • Build a design culture in the team that thinks forward and challenges the status quo.
  • Work with the wider design team on improving processes by running workshops and design rituals
  • Oversee the briefing process and traffic management of deliverables
  • Translate ideas and briefs into well-designed deliverables
  • Partner with marketing teams, designers and Product Managers throughout the design process including presentations, stand-ups, review meetings, project briefings, etc
  • Work closely with Product design leads in creating alignment across the product and marketing
  • Participate in design reviews and share work regularly with the other Design Leads and promote your teams work within the wider business

Design Strategy

  • Work with head of design, and design leads to define design strategy and brand vision. Deliver on this the strategy and sell it into the business.
  • Work with Product to help deliver design initiatives that cover Customer Experience / Service design
  • Be an advocate for design thinking across the business and promote new design innovations and strategy to stake holders.
  • Advocate a user focussed design approach using data to improve designs and use insights to develop & present new concepts & ideas
  • Bring new ideas and innovations to the business.
  • Be a brand guardian and develop, manage & police the brand guidelines.
  • Have a strong voice and gravitas to help design be seen as a leading department within the business.
  • Understand the business goals, customer needs and competitor products to ensure we are best-in-class, and know when and how to make tough design decisions
Qualifications:
  • Degree in a design or design related subject
  • You possess the ability to a diverse group of coach designers
  • You obtain a strong online portfolio demonstrating attention to both form and function
  • Ability to build key relationships across the business.
  • Art direction
  • Proficient in current design tools
  • You're data-driven in your approach to make design decisions
  • Experience of presenting ideas and working with cross functional teams
  • You'll be strategic thinking with a customer at front of mind approach.
  • You thrive from delivering quality work and open-minded to collaboration across the team and business.

Desirables
  • Familiarity with agile software development and lean teams
  • Experience working inhouse at a fintech or large data-driven company is desirable but not essential
  • Bonus points for being able to conduct user research and customer journey mapping

This means that if you are contributing the minimum contribution of 5%, after your 1-year service, Preqin will automatically uplift the company contribution to 5% of annual salary.
