Overview of Responsibilities
The Creative Artworker will be responsible for creating artwork solutions across a variety of projects of both digital (80%) and print (20%) in nature, maintaining brand standards across our fundraising and awareness campaigns, social media and events propositions. Amongst the classic art working duties (producing event agenda layouts, speaker graphics and PowerPoint presentations, etc.), you’ll also be invited to generate ideas, mock-ups and produce final assets for new initiatives / identities across a diverse range of sub-brands and exciting ventures that run throughout a calendar year.
With a keen eye for detail, you will be interpreting artwork and layout requests from the Communications & Design Manager and from others in the Society via our project management software, Monday.com, to visualize The Ehlers-Danlos Society brand through marketing campaigns, social media, email, web, content & POS, event communications and more.
You’ll be collaborating with the Communications team on large and small-scale projects, leading by example and ensuring that all outputs are fit for platform and audience and that brand vision is delivered, ensuring that these outputs are both insightful and engaging whilst respectful to all brand guidelines.
This is the perfect opportunity for a detail obsessed all-rounder who has proven experience working within long-established brand guidelines.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions
This role has three (3) core areas of ownership, the responsibilities involved include, but are not limited to:
Creative Design
- Clearly translate project briefs into visually compelling, accurate, and creative brand appropriate materials.
- Contribute to the design of the organization’s digital marketing platforms including website and social media.
- Collaborate with the Design & Communications department, as well as the wider team on large and small-scale projects, ensuring all outputs are fit for purpose.
- Collaborate with the design team to ensure all jobs/briefs are completed in a timely manner, working as a team to cover widespread workloads during busy event periods.
- Contribute to everyday business requests that come in to the design team via the graphics ticketing request system, such as internal/external presentation requirements.
Program & Project Focus
- Take ownership for graphic content required for assigned programs/projects e.g. EDS ECHO & Events.
- Utilize brand kits for assigned programs and projects, maintaining consistency across all output channels.
Departmental Processes
- Work closely with the Design & Communications Manager and wider design team to ensure process and output match quality and timelines.
- Ensure the wider team are providing an accurate briefing description via the ticketing system in order to aid departmental workflows and processes.
- Aid the Communications & Design team in implementing structured processes and procedures to enhance departmental workflows to all internal stakeholders by identifying departments that require additional support/training on briefing requirements.
Work Environment
Under normal conditions, this role is a fully remote position, working from home. However, due to the international nature of the Society’s work, staff may require regular travel to company events, meetings, and conferences as well as some weekend work.
Requirements
- Have a degree in graphic design, illustration or similar relevant discipline, or an up-to-date portfolio demonstrating your skillset.
- Proven experience in using the Adobe Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
- Mac literate / a Mac user.
- Proven experience of working in a creative art working / design position with a meticulous attention to detail and a passion for accuracy and consistency.
- Excellent planning and organization skills, ability to multi-task, plan and prioritize work within agreed timescales.
- Be a conceptual thinker, and have a highly logical, systematic approach to your work.
- The ability to take complete ownership of assigned projects from initial briefing through to final presentation.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with quick turnarounds.
- Be a collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
- Have a desire to learn, grow and push the boundaries of The Society’s brand identity.
- Previous experience in video editing and/or illustration would be beneficial, but not essential.
- An interest in EDS / HSD or rare diseases in general would be beneficial but not required.
- The ability to work in a virtual team setting, and work independently.
- Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends to prepare for in-person Society events.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Stable internet connection required for video calls & cloud-based services as this is a fully remote role.
- Travel to and attend our two in-person staff retreats (1 UK & 1 US based).
- Travel to and attend our in-person annual Global Learning Conference, and other events as required from time to time.
