CPC Network Operations Manager - London

Job purpose
This role is part of the Central Postal Control leadership team whose purpose is to provide a leadership response to any actual or potential threats to Royal Mail Group operations in 24/7/365 real time which prioritises the safety and security of our people and the connectivity of our customers’ mail.
Key accountabilities
- Provide cover for the CPC Network Control Manager when required for both short and long term periods
- Provide leadership to a nominated CPC LA, ensuring that standards are deployed and followed, performance of the team is optimised, poor performance is challenged, behaviour standards are maintained and development and coaching is delivered
- Produce a range of daily and weekly reports, including pipeline report, automation failure report, input to the national network report and other reports when required.
- Prepare Action and Info flash communications when required
- Maintain databases and support systems EG SMS messaging
- Ensure that all incidents received are logged on the system and that the process for notification of Royal post is followed
- Ensure that all CPC network records, plans and information systems are up to date
- Deal with ad hoc vehicle requests in conjunction with network road manager
- Deploy the move to time policy
- Deal with vehicle breakdown incidents in conjunction with the breakdown services manager
- Respond to all reported incidents and requests for information from customers
- Be an active part of the CPC team, dealing with the full range of calls from point of entry/enquiry until resolution as appropriate, involving Network and the wider Royal Mail Group
Key Skills
- Controlled response under pressure in real time
- Able to analyse (often limited) information to make the right commercial decisions
- High degree of influencing and collaboration skill
- IT literate – able to produce clear and relevant data
- Able to communicate on all levels via various media
- Cover for the senior manager Team Leader role when they are not on shift
- Detailed understanding of RM Road, Rail and Air operations and PFW
- Experience of leading, working within and contributing to a team
- Knowledge of CPC systems and processes
Experience
- Operational background and willingness to learn about the wider pipeline
- Ability to work 12 hour shifts (days and nights) including weekends & bank holidays. Proven ability to make quick decisions under pressure
Shift Patterns
The shifts are 7 days on 7 days off rolling through a 12 month period. 12 hours per shift which includes weekends and all bank holidays if they fall on the working week.
Six months of day shift followed by six months of night shift.
