Job description
Adept are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Material Controller to join our clients team. As a Material Controller, you will play a crucial role in receiving, checking, and managing goods, while ensuring effective communication with various departments and stakeholders. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure full materials support is readily available lineside. This position requires the ability to maintain optimal supply levels and provide support to the shop floor, both as part of a team and independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive goods from suppliers, carefully verifying parts against accompanying paperwork and ensuring delivery integrity.
- Utilize software (Factory master) on a daily basis to control materials movement.
- Physically move stock to and from stores.
- Safely operate Counterbalance and Reach forklift trucks to facilitate material storage.
- Pick, kit, and supply materials for works orders and sales orders, including replenishment of off-site Kanban systems.
- Coordinate the dispatch of goods from stores, collaborating with the Logistics department.
- Manage and collect incoming documentation, such as certificates of conformance (C of C), materials certifications, etc.
- Conduct regular stock checks and periodic audits within stores to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Maintain regular communication with department heads and escalate any concerns promptly.
- Adhere to the company's Health and Safety policies, promptly reporting any safety concerns.
- Address local concerns whenever possible and escalate them appropriately when local control measures have failed.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Solid understanding of mathematics and English.
- Basic computer skills.
- Preferred, but not essential: Counterbalance and Reach Forklift truck license (Training may be provided).
- Previous experience in stores management and stock control.
- Proficiency in document control and strong organizational skills.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
