1. Counsellor (with a particular focus on Black and other minority ethnic student support) Permanent contract, part-time, 22.5 hours per week
We are looking to recruit a Counsellor with particular focus on support for Black and other minority ethnic students who will work within a team of experienced practitioners in the University’s Counselling Service.
The Counsellor will provide individual counselling that meets the needs of Black students and other students from minority ethnic backgrounds, and will also be expected to work with the full range of clients that approach our service, as necessary. The post holder will be responsible for their own clinical practice, including professional development. They will contribute to the operational development of the service and support the wider work of the Counselling Service within colleges, departments and external services, including contributing to the development of interventions for Black students and students from other minority ethnic backgrounds, and providing training for staff in welfare roles across the institution.
You will have significant experience of working clinically with clients from Black and/or other minority ethnic backgrounds and specific skills to engage sensitively and effectively with issues of ‘race’, racism and belonging in the context of the therapeutic process.
2. Counsellor, Permanent, part-time, 30 hours per week
We are looking to recruit a part-time clinician to join our current team of counsellors, where the two core models are psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy.
You will be required to provide individual sessions, predominantly working within a brief model, to students with psychological and emotional problems.
We are seeking to recruit an individual who displays a flexible approach with excellent planning, communication and organisational skills and who will be willing to take an active role in the development of the service. You will be responsible for your own clinical practice, including professional development. You will contribute to the operational development of the service and support the wider work of the Counselling Service within colleges, departments and external services. You will have an expert knowledge of best counselling practice and be capable of working in a complex and challenging environment.
For both roles:
Applicants must have British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Individual Counsellor / UKCP / HCPC / BPS or equivalent body accreditation and registration. In the case of a Psychologist, qualified as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, one must be a graduate member and eligible for chartership of BPS
