Do you aspire to a career in Costume, with interest in all aspects of a costume department from cutting, sewing, making and planning, working with designers, to dressing and maintenance? Are you proactive with an eye for detail, passionate about how costume plays a role in storytelling, and a good team player? Leeds Playhouse are looking for a Costume Making Trainee to join us full time for 18 months from Autumn 2023.

This traineeship is part of the Regional Theatre Technical Apprenticeship Programme, funded by The Mackintosh Foundation, which will provide a wide-ranging opportunity to be part of the creative life of a large-scale building-based theatre organisation. This is a unique opportunity for a locally rooted Costume Making Trainee to work in a supportive environment surrounded by a wealth of expertise; to grow, develop skills, learn from highly experienced Costume makers and Designers and build invaluable relationships across a range of production departments.

You must be over the age of 18 and locally rooted to Yorkshire for this opportunity, as well as being in the very early stages of your career in costume, as this programme is directly aimed at people who need a steppingstone into the industry.

This role is Fixed-Term for 18 months and will be full time, 40 hours per week, including one day a week attending college or training.
