This is a full-time permanent grade 7 (£27,852 to £32,020) post based at County Hall in Preston

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Correspondence Officer within the Inclusion Service at Lancashire County Council.

Key Responsibilities: As Correspondence Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining effective communication channels between the Inclusion Service and children and young people with special educational needs, their families and other key stakeholders, including elected members. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and processing all incoming correspondence, including letters, emails, and other forms of communication, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Operating and managing the advice helpline, providing accurate and helpful information to callers and ensuring a high level of customer service.
  • Utilising systems and tools, including new technologies to support effective and efficient communication with a range of stakeholders.
  • Analysing complaints, feedback, and suggestions received from community members, to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborating with various departments within the council to ensure appropriate actions are taken to address the points raised in correspondence and feedback.
  • Compiling reports and summaries for management review, highlighting key issues and proposed solutions.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all correspondence and interactions for future reference and reporting purposes.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A strong background in customer service, communication, or related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail to manage a high volume of correspondence and tasks.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and software for generating responses, data entry, analysis, and reporting.
  • Empathy and patience when dealing with families and other stakeholders, especially in sensitive or challenging situations.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.
