Job description
We currently have an opportunity for an exceptional Deputy Manager to join our Nursery in Romford.
The applicant will need to warm, welcoming and have a positive and motivational attitude to support their team.
Applicants will need to to have a Level 3 in Childcare and show knowledge of and work within the requirements of the Statutory Framework, have a good understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection and be able to follow and implement the policies and procedures of the setting.
Purpose of Post
To work within an anti-discriminatory and inclusive environment, and to provide inclusive play and learning opportunities for all children attending Mulberry Bush Nursery. Maintain a safe, stimulating and enjoyable environment enabling children to reach their full potential.
Duties
· To be responsible for planning within the nursery together with the key workers and to manage the provision, including staffing levels in the absence of the Manager.
· To implement the day to day management of the nursery room
· To work alongside the Manager to provide a high standard of quality care and education.
· To be aware of and act in accordance with current legislation, policy and procedures.
· To support the Manager with the development and review of policies and procedures within the nursery as necessary.
· To have thorough knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection policies and procedures, knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding legislation and recording and reporting responsibilities and procedures.
· To have thorough knowledge of Health and Safety policies and procedures, knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety legislation, Risk Assessments and review processes associated with Health and Safety.
· To support the Manager with, and lead where necessary on, the induction, training and development of staff and be actively involved in the content and direction of staff meetings.
· To contribute to the strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation of the Nursery.
· To support the Manager with admissions to the childcare provision.
· To liaise effectively with the Local Authority and other professional organisations associated with the Nursery.
· To oversee the efficient upkeep of the setting and maintenance including equipment inventories, furnishings and fittings.
· To work alongside the Manager to ensure effective information management processes are in place for the administrative duties associated with the day to day running of the setting e.g. maintaining children’s records, ordering equipment, maintaining inventory and personnel records.
· To work in partnership with parents and work alongside the Manager in developing new initiatives for working effectively with parents.
· Knowledge of relevant administrative computer packages and general IT performance is essential.
· To be responsible for a small group of key children.
· To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the Setting Manager in their absence and be the first point of contact for all queries, complaints, incidents and/or accidents at the setting when the manager is not on site.
The successful applicants must
- Hold Level 3 in Childcare or above and a commitment to obtaining further qualifications as appropriate.
- Be able to demonstrate how to implement the EYFS within the Nursery setting
- Have a minimum of 3 years experience within a nursery or other professional childcare enviroment.
