The Opportunity
Keele University is seeking a Student Complaints, Appeals and Conduct Officer to join the Student Appeals, Complaints and Conduct team in Academic Registry.
Academic Registry is responsible for the effective management of a number of key student-related administration processes. These include:
- Student Conduct (comprising academic appeals, academic misconduct, student complaints and student discipline)
- Quality Assurance
- Student Records & Examinations
- Student Engagement & Attendance Monitoring
- Timetabling
- Educational Partnerships
- Keele Doctoral Academy
- Keele Institute for Innovation in Teaching Excellence (KIITE)
The successful candidate will work across all four student casework areas managed by the team, but with a particular focus on appeals, complaints, and discipline. They will work closely with other members of the team during busy periods to process academic appeals and communicate outcomes to students. They will also be responsible for carrying out initial reviews of formal student complaints and communicating outcomes. They will also carry out periodic reviews of risk assessments, in cases where students have been placed under temporary restrictions whilst a disciplinary investigation is ongoing.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a team where work is allocated flexibly and where priorities can change at short notice. They will be able to manage a complex case load and apply regulatory, legal or policy requirements to cases, as well as demonstrating excellent communication and organisational skills. They will be able to deal confidently and with diplomacy with students and staff across the University. At times, they may be required to work on cases involving distressing circumstances and events.

Please note that the starting salary will typically be at the bottom of the pay scale shown above.
