PRISON OFFENDER MANAGER

Salary £28,469.00 - £31,438.22 per annum
Permanent, Full Time (40 hours per week)

Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe and causes of prison stress are minimised. Central to our philosophy is the relationship between staff and prisoners. Our training and operational practices emphasise the need to treat prisoners with dignity and respect and G4S staff build positive and supportive relationships with the prisoners in their care. HMP Oakwood is one of the largest prisons in England and Wales, providing places for up to approximately 2100 Category C male prisoners.
Due to expansion we are looking for a number of experienced Prison Offender Managers (POM) to join our team. You may already have experience within a custodial environment and are seeking a new challenge or ready for the next step in your career.
The Prison Offender Manager (POM) will contribute to and lead the management and assessment of low to medium risk prisoners at HMP Oakwood and to prepare, implement, review and evaluate their sentence plans with them. The POM will build effective, appropriate and supportive relationships with prisoners, with the aim of reducing re-offending.
You will act in a supportive role to probation officers based at HMP Oakwood in the case management of low/medium risk prisoners a and co-work high risk of harm cases with the National Probation Service (NPS) POM.
Some of the key responsibilities to this role are:
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of offender management / Oasys policy, practice and procedures and associated communication strategies to ensure compliance with the relevant standards, including security instructions.
- Manage a caseload with a minimum of 75 and 115 that will include cases that are co worked with NPS (National probation Service). Responsible for Tier C & Tier D Low ROSH (Risk of Self Harm)
- Caseloads can be altered to reflect the FTE of the department and or any changes to the operational capacity / needs.
- Produce documents and information, often of a confidential and sensitive nature, in a timely manner ensuring consistency with company and department standards of efficiency and accuracy.
- Adhere to the schedules as per OMIC (Offender management in Custody)
- Support the Operational needs of the establishment when required.
- Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture to achieve and maintain recognition as a British Safety Council 5 Star business unit.
- Ensure the maintenance of security within the prison environment by compliance with security instructions.
The Ideal Candidate:
You will have a consultative and can do attitude and you must possess excellent communication skills both written and oral, alongside good negotiation and influencing skills.
It is essential that you have experience of working within a multifunctional and demanding environment and understand the fundamentals of risk management. You will be a dynamic and engaging individual with a good sense of humour. As a proven professional, you will be an integral part of the HMP Oakwood team.
