Position: Copy and Content Creator
Reporting to: Head of Marketing & Communications

Location: Home based, with a requirement to travel to our communities for research purposes.
Hours This is a part-time post of 30 hours per week over 5 days.
Overview
The key role of copy and content writer is to tell our stakeholders about the incredible work that takes place at Camphill Village Trust. The job is varied and includes writing our internal, family and fundraising newsletters and appeals, providing marketing collateral and Trust literature, through to supporting the compilation of fundraising bids to grant giving trusts.
You will need to build strong relationships with staff from across the organisation in order to gain their trust and understanding of your role, leading you to secure their support in granting interviews and unlocking great stories.
Whatever you are writing, your focus will be on telling supporters and funders, people we support and their families, potential new service users and commissioners about the work that takes place at the Trust and the impact it has on people’s lives. You will need to have a creative approach to not just tell the chronological tale but to explore how what we do makes a difference to people.
Key departmental responsibilities
1. Overview activities
· Develop relationships built on trust with people we support, their families and colleagues to aid with identifying content and story-telling. Conduct interviews with key stakeholders to be enable personal voices to be heard.
· Follow brand guidelines and ensure all work meets our standards for tone and content.
· Manage and develop agree tone of voice across all creative copy.
· Identify the key messages of each piece of copy, ensure the writing illustrates the impact, purpose and innovation of Camphill Village Trust’s work in an engaging and interesting way and is not a simple chronological re-telling of the facts.
· Support the Communications team and wider Trust in creative writing (case studies, surveys, reports, storyboards, presentations), ensuring deadlines are met.
2. Provide collateral for Camphill Village Trust
· Work with the Head of Marketing & Communications to provide copy for a suite of literature explaining the work of Camphill Village Trust for different audiences.
· Work with the EMT to create presentations, write reports and other requested materials.
· Develop a bank of case studies demonstrating the impact of the work of Camphill Village Trust on the lives of people we support and their families.
· Agree content and provide copy for the Family and Members newsletter, which is published three times a year.
· Liaise with the EMT and Head of Marketing & Communications on the style and content for the charity’s Annual Report. Identify stories from the past year and write copy for the Annual Report. Support the Head of Marketing & Communications on working with the co-production team to develop an accessible version of the report.
· Produce easy read / accessible copy of key pieces of literature, suitable for the people we support or prospective clients.
3. Content creation for the fundraising newsletter and appeals
· Support the fundraising team to create the fundraising newsletter and appeal.
· Identify suitable stories for the newsletter, contributing to the planning and production of the newsletter and appeal and ensuring it is delivered on time and to budget.
· Write copy for the newsletter and appeals ensuring it follows Camphill Village Trust’s tone of voice for the intended audience.
· Work with the Fundraising Director on identifying the most important aspects of the quarterly appeals. Ensure the content conveys the need for, and impact of, funding.
4. Produce funding applications for grant giving charitable trusts
· Liaise with colleagues to develop funding applications to grant giving trusts.
· Support the fundraising team to secure all the necessary information for the applications.
· Be responsible for ensuring applications are within the guidelines.
· Keep meticulous records of approaches made using the fundraising CRM.
General
· To understand and be supportive of the charity’s founding philosophy.
· To actively participate as a member of the Fundraising and Communications team.
· To be a member of the charity’s GDPR group, ensuring your key areas of responsibility are
compliant with GDPR regulations.
· To help keep all vulnerable adults safe by adhering to the Trusts safeguarding policy
· To undertake appropriate CPD in relation to job responsibilities.
Success criteria
· You are a well-known figure amongst those leading new developments within the Trust and a community level. You have contacts who you can pick up the phone to and who will support you in securing local stories.
· Copy for our newsletters and appeal is inspiring and gives an accurate portrayal of everyday life for people with a learning disability and the work of Camphill Village Trust
· The communications team has a range of literature, all telling the story of Camphill Village Trust and the impact of our work.
· We have a successful Trust income stream through appeals and charitable trust applications.

Person Specification
Professional knowledge and experience
Essential
· Demonstrable career history showing content writing experience.
· At least 2 years’experience of writing for the charity sector and producing content that is used across a range of media including printed and digital material
· Experience of working on a CRM.
· Experience writing for a variety of audiences.
· Ability to tell rational and emotional stories to engage audiences and motivate action
Desirable
· Creative writing qualification or training.
· Knowledge of writing for digital platforms.
· Experience of writing for fundraising direct marketing.
· Knowledge of the charity sector.
· Knowledge of the learning disabilities sector.
Personal Aptitude and Competencies
· A good communicator, able to build relationships with people from a wide variety of backgrounds with an ability to put people at ease.
· Able to look at stories from different angles and have a creative approach to their work.
· Organised and disciplined, able to juggle the three key priorities of this role.

Key employment terms
· The salary is £29,000 - £32,000 per annum pro rata
· A mileage allowance of 45p per mile for all work journeys is provided. This may be subject to tax.
· Part time – 30 hours a week, across 4 or 5 days
· This is a home-based position with some travel to Trust communities across England and occasional meetings at other locations.
· Holiday entitlement of 25 days pro rata plus bank holidays
· Sick pay entitlement
· There is a standard auto-enrolment pension scheme, with the option to contribute 10% of gross salary for a 6% contribution by the employer.
