PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To develop and maintain the level of competence required to assist with the safe delivery of a varied and high standard of rigging and other event and non event related services throughout NEC and city centre sites.
To be responsible for the coordination of the Rigging Assistants for operations of pre planned scheduled works under the direction of the Senior Rigging Co ordinators and Senior Rigger.
To proactively develop and mentor the skills for the Rigging Assistants in order to achieve a high level of competency in the field of ground based entertainment rigging logistics and to ensure that a safe working environment is maintained at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
- To develop the competency required for the safe installation operation and removal of venue and client ground based rigging systems, ensuring that all installations are checked and removed in accordance with health and safety criteria, being fully compliant with layout plans for the event and nonevent activities.
- Point of contact on events and none events, liaising with the technical team, external production teams, event planning managers, and other internal departments, safely delivering event and nonevent service requirements.
- Attend crew and 121 meetings, actively participating and contributing to discussions and the strategy of the department for the wellbeing of the venues, appropriately making suggestions for cost savings and or operational improvements
- React to late change requests positively, anticipating and resolving any potential issues that may arise.
- Maintain effective departmental and individual performance standards, taking relevant steps to mitigate any deterioration of them in line with Company policies and procedures.
- To ensure resources and equipment are appropriately deployed with activities completed in line with agreed timescales, or as defined by the business or the customer.
- To escalate any problems to the Senior rigger and or rigger and above in a timely period.
- Proactively engage in identifying own personal development and training needs, actively seeking appropriate time to maximise opportunities of executing own development plans, objectives, and required refresher training, as defined by departmental, legislative, and H and S requirements.
- Provide support to the Technical team.
- Develop a good knowledge of industry innovations and relevant company and industry rules, regulations, and best practice guidelines, ensuring Rigging Assistants follow operational procedures at all times.
- To assist with the overseeing of mandatory thorough examinations, periodic maintenance, and inspections of equipment and plant in line with current legislative guidelines and health and safety requirements.
- Ensuring that all work carried out is adequately supervised and inspected by a competent person.
- To fully understand your role and responsibilities and adhere to them, ensuring that they are fulfilled in line with the Group Organisational and Venue specific organisational arrangements.
- Proactively engage in identifying own personal development and training needs and those of the Rigging Assistants, actively seeking appropriate time to maximise opportunities of executing own development plans, objectives, and required refresher training, as defined by departmental, legislative, and H and S requirements.
- Operate venue plant machinery and equipment safely and in accordance with legislation, supplier recommendations, and health and safety requirements.
- Reporting any defects immediately.
- Perform tasks as defined in safe systems of work and risk assessments, participating in annual or remedial reviews of departmental documentation and processes.
- Adhere to current legislative and supplier recommendations and company guidelines.
- Create and maintain a safe working environment, taking remedial action when required and referring to senior management issues of a more serious nature.
- Being responsible for seeking advice and guidance when carrying out ground rigging related duties ensuring that all work carried out is checked by a full time member of the arenas rigging team or an allocated Supervisor.
- To adopt a thoroughly flexible attitude reflective of the venue and business needs that shows an ability to develop in a constantly changing environment
- To develop a thorough knowledge and good attitude to health and safety in the workplace
- Must have the ability to adhere to and keep up with strictly laid down development and training schedules.
- Must have the patience and skills to mentor Rigging Assistants and Agency staff
- Excellent communication skills are an essential requirement, with an ability to maintain standards in a stressful and pressurised environment
- Must be reliable and willing to work evenings, nights, and weekends
